After graduating in 1989 with a Ph.D in Electrical Power Systems from Imperial College, London, Dr. Najib Dandachi joined System Operation of the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) U.K., before its privatisation. He later continued at the National Grid Control Centre of England & Wales where he held a number of senior posts involved with both the operational and the commercial obligations of the Control Centre. He studied for M.Sc in Engineering Management at Bristol University, England.

Since 1998, Najib moved to the UAE to take up the post of the Load Despatch Centre Manager of Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company, Transco, ADWEA. In 2006, he became the Director of Network Services in charge of the three main operational Divisions in the company: the Control Centre, Power operation & maintenance and Water operation & maintenance. In 2010, he became the Director of Asset Management.

He is the UAE team leader on the Gulf electricity Interconnection and played a key role in compiling legal, commercial and technical agreements between the Gulf member States.

Dr. Dandachi published and presented in international meetings more than 20 technical papers mainly on energy markets, system optimisation, network operation and analysis. He Chaired an IEE Colloquium at Savoy Place, London and lectured on a number of International courses on Energy Market, Open access, Regulatory style, Independent System Operator (ISO) and Impact of Privatisation on System Operation & Control.
