TRAINING SEMINAR ON SOLAR RESOURCE ASSESSMENT

The EU-GCC Clean Energy Network in cooperation with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) organize a one-day Training Seminar on Solar Resource Assessment on January 19, 2011, in Abu Dhabi. The seminar is held as a back to back event of the 1st EU-GCC Clean Energy Network Plenary Meeting on 18th January.
The Seminar is presented by Mr Carsten Hoyer-Klick from German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Technical Thermodynamics and will be held at the premises of the Higher Colleges of Technology, in Abu Dhabi.

The Training Seminar on Solar Resource Assessment will be held in the premises of Higher Colleges of Technology. The Seminar will take place at the Research and Innovation Room in ADMC (Abu Dhabi Men’s College) –Higher Colleges of Technology.

Seminar Topics

The objective of this one-day Seminar is to cover the most important aspects of solar energy resource measurement and assessment. The main thematic topics to be addressed are following:

Methods for assessing solar radiation (ground measurements and remote/satellite sensing);
Sources for solar radiation data;
Benchmarking of solar radiation data;
Required characteristics of solar radiation data for various applications / How to select a suitable data set for the desired application;
Quality assessment of solar radiation data;
Obtaining bankable data for CSP and PV installation.

Target Audience

The Seminar is addressed to clean energy actors and experts from EU and GCC, including engineers, CSP and PV project developers, technologists active in the solar energy sector, government and local authority officials and other decision makers and investors. It is designed for a targeted and limited number of participants so as to personalise and maximise the learning experience.
