Creating the Gulf Energy Exchange

Liberalization of the electricity markets will facilitate competition in generation; it will lead to reflection of all the cost components in the electricity tariffs; it will drive performance improvements and will pave the way for regional power markets interconnection and trading which will further enhance Renewable penetration into the grid.

The creation of a Gulf Energy Exchange will complete the power markets integration and will facilitate the efficient exploitation and economic trading of the energy sources

An all encompassing in depth study of the GCC power markets, recording status and current practices can facilitate the formulation of the proposals for common policy formulation and the establishment of regional cooperation agreements for th operation of the Energy Exchange.
